Do you have to be in service to apply for a TSGLI benefit?
No. As long as the Servicemember experienced the traumatic event while in service and was covered by SGLI, (unless it occurred between October 7, 2001, and November 30, 2005), they can apply for the benefit even if they have since been discharged.
